Responsible for the following:
- Registers Deaths that take place in Warren County
- Registers Births that take place in Warren County
- Registers Marriage Certificates that apply in Warren County
- Issues Marriage Licenses (this license is valid statewide)
- Certifies Warren County Vital Records
To obtain certified copies of Warren County vital records, the applicant has to be entitled to the record. This would include spouse, children, legal parents, grandparents, legal representative or guardian. A form, available in the office, will need to be filled out. The cost per certified copy is $15.00. The applicant will need to show photo identification.

Marriage
Application Information
A marriage application cost is $35.00 The happy couple and third person, all 18 years of age or older, need to bring photo identification at time of application. The happy couple needs to know how to spell parent’s names, including mother’s maiden name. The happy couple needs to know their name after marriage.
Any couple under 18 needs an application for minor filled out and signed by a parent or legal guardian. The couple will need to appear before a judge and have this application signed.
The couple can pick up the license and certificate of marriage when they apply. The certificate will be valid in four days.
There is a three-day waiver form available in the office that is an additional $5.00 fee if the couple needs their license and certificate of marriage issued the same day. The couple needs to have this form filled out and appear before the judge for his signature.
The State of Iowa requires no blood test.
Information Regarding an online scam
There is a website advising you that they can provide you with a certified copy of a birth, marriage or death record for $70.00. They will email it to you. This is a scam! It can’t be a certified copy if they are emailing the document & a certified copy is only $15.00 through your county recorder’s office or the iowa bureau of health statistics. Please do not order from them. A certified copy should never be more than $15.00. We have a statewide system where we can produce a birth certificate from 1986 forward from any county in the state, marriage and death records are from 1954 forward.
